Chapter 2.1

It doesn’t take much to convince Lucia to come hang out at the legacy homestead. Darwin shows her some of his paintings hanging in the workroom.
Lucia: You’re an artist…you know it wouldn’t take much to get this house really up and running.

Darwin: You know, we should go out on an official date, Lucia.
Lucia: Ooo, a real date Mr. Natural? I would love to go.

Lucia of course fancies herself up, and the two go down to the Rattlesnake Juice Bar, where they chat it up good.

Darwin decides to take a leap of faith, thankfully Lucia is feeling similarly. They share their first kiss!

Darwin: So, we seem to feel the same. Wanna make it official and add the girlfriend/boyfriend title to the whole thing?
Lucia: Heck yes I do!

Things of course got more heated from there, but Darwin, you should learn to watch for nearby surfaces before doing the swooping kiss. I can’t imagine the concussion.

Darwin and Lucia are up late into the night enjoying their date, and the next day Darwin invites Lucia over, with the intention of her meeting his mother and inviting her to move in. Unfortunetly, it would appear he did not get enough sleep the night before.

Thankfully, Darwin managed to ask before he went off for a nap, and Lucia Canfield joins the household. We discover she’s got the bestselling author aspiration, which gives her the muser trait. She is also a snob, active, and gloomy. Because she lived with her family off-world, she doesn’t bring any money to the household. Her family gets to move on up and is added to the neighborhood in a house near Caroline’s.

The next morning, Lucia gives herself a makeover and spends some time with Gaia.
Lucia: I hope you don’t mind me moving in and all that, Gaia.
Gaia: Oh no I love it! It’s been so empty here since Elvis died and Caroline moved out. I’m excited to have lots of people over again!

Gaia: Now, I hope I’m not being too forward, but when do you two plan to…um…
Darwin: Mom, we haven’t talked about it yet. Don’t worry.
Lucia: I want to invite my family over for a dinner party in a day or two, Mrs. Natural. I want the whole family to know each other!

As promised, Darwin and Lucia invited her family over for a dinner party! Gaia made a wonderful Shrimp Cocktail and Lucia worked on a side salad. Lucia’s mother Valeria was excited to meet Gaia and Darwin. I don’t know why Lucia’s brother Jameson was stomping his way in, but he turned out to be a nice guy.

Darwin was thrilled to get the chance to regail Valeria with tall tales (he’s constantly confident with Lucia around, since they’re both snobs)

Jameson and Lucia’s father Ezekial escaped to the back garden to eat, though of course Caroline had to follow out and say hi. She seems to like what she sees in Jameson…

Lucia had lots of energy to burn the next day. She was overall pleased with the party with her parents (for which they got a silver medal).

She was a bit surprised when the Grim Reaper trotted in, chatting with the folks at the treadmills.
Grim: Keep runnin! I can add a day or two of breathing room to my schedule if you guys stay fit!

Apparently Grim practices what he preaches. He’s gotta stay bone thin somehow.

Meanwhile, that night they threw another party, seeing as Darwin is a partying fool. Unfortunetly, a lot of his friends are also getting quite up there.

Darwin, however, did have another motive for this party, and as it was in full swing, he got down on one knee and proposed to Lucia.

No one was surprised by her resounding yes.

And of course, as soon as the party goers were gone, they celebrated in their own way.
